You will visit Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built in 1192 by Turk ruler Qutub-Ud-Din Aibak. You will then move forward to Humayun’s tomb, yet another UNESCO world heritage site. Your next stop is India Gate, built-in memory of the Unknown Soldiers of World War I. You will be driven past the Parliament House, President’s House and other Government Secretarial Buildings, to your final destination which will be Lakshmi Narayan Temple, a temple dedicated to Lakshmi and Lord Narayana.
DAY 3
DELHI TO AGRA
This morning you’ll proceed to the next stop on your tour – Agra; home of the magnificent Taj Mahal. After having had the chance to freshen up over lunch, you’ll be met by your guide to explore Agra Fort, followed by the Taj Mahal in its most beautiful light – glowing a warm orange at sunset. After that, back at the hotel this evening and enjoy the night with some delicious dinner.
DAY 4
AGRA TO RANTHAMBORE
Explore the 15th century Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri this morning – it was abandoned after just 14 years. Later, you’ll board the train to Ranthambore. Though Ranthambore is not technically part of India’s Golden Triangle, it makes a fabulous addition – the forest surroundings are a peaceful change of pace after the bustle of Delhi and Agra, and spotting a tiger in its natural habitat is an exhilarating experience. Furthermore, here in Ranthambore is an experience not to be missed: it’s often our guest’s favourites place, and we’d have to agree! The perfect contrast to the ruggedness of Ranthambore National Park.
DAY 5
IN RANTHAMBORE
Bring the Jungle Book to life today as you travel through the Indian jungle on a private Jeep safari (both morning and afternoon drives are recommended). The most famous resident of Ranthambore National Park is the beautiful Bengal tiger, and sighting one in the wild is a truly exhilarating experience. Even if you’re not lucky enough to spot one, what you’re guaranteed to see a colourful array of birds, animals and plants, peacocks, monkeys, deer and crocodiles. Between safaris, there’ll be a few hours to relax and enjoy your surroundings at the Oberoi Vanyavilas, though if you’re feeling active we’d recommend climbing Ranthambore Fort. This 10th century citadel rests majestically on the edge of the forest and offers spectacular views from its peak.
DAY 6
RANTHAMBORE TO JAIPUR
Day six of your tour brings you to Jaipur, also known as India’s ‘Pink City’. Upon arriving in Jaipur, you’ll check in to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure. In the evening you can enjoy the night life of Ranthmbore.
DAY 7
IN JAIPUR
A full day of guided sightseeing in the Pink City, today. Begin the day at the splendid Amber Fort, later taking in the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory, and the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Later we’d recommend visiting Dera Amer for an unforgettable evening with elephants. Dera Amer is a peaceful spot on the rural outskirts of Jaipur, where guests are invited to spend time with these magnificent creatures, helping bathe and feed them, before taking a gentle ride together at sunset. If this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, we have a number of other unique excursions available, from private cooking classes to hot air balloon rides.
DAY 8
JAIPUR BACK TO DELHI, DEPART
The morning’s at in Jaipur, to relax and enjoy the hotel or further explore at your own pace. Your chauffeur is always on hand to take you anywhere you may like to go. You might like to take this opportunity to browse for interesting souvenirs in Jaipur’s famous markets and emporiums – when it comes to shopping, Jaipur has something for everyone: from elegant textiles to kitschy wooden camels, even the most frugal visitor is likely to leave the Pink City with one or two pieces tucked in their case! For a souvenir with local fair, we’d recommend a piece of semi-precious jewellery or blue pottery. Your tour then concludes as you return to Delhi.
You’ll then be chauffeured to the airport for your early hours departure. Alternatively, if your flight is departing in the morning, we can always reserve a room through the night for you. This would be tailored to best suit your international flight arrangements.
